Cambridge CYP Counselling
Supporting children’s wellbeing
We work with children, young people & their families
We offer face-to-face counselling for
children and young people in our therapy rooms in Babraham, Cambridge
How we can help
Counselling can help children and young people to make sense of what is going on in their lives and find better ways of coping with difficulties. There are times when children may feel particularly sad, confused, stressed or angry due to problems at home, school, with friendships or wider societal issues. Children may become withdrawn, demanding or start displaying challenging behaviours. Counselling can help children & young people deal with these emerging difficulties sooner in order to prevent them from escalating.
How we work
We see children and young people for regular 50 minutes weekly sessions in our therapy rooms specifically designed & equipped for working with children and young people.
Children
Our therapeutic work with younger children is rooted in child-led play therapy that enables children to explore their feelings, emotions and behaviours through play. We offer a wide variety of play materials to support each child find what they most like to engage with in their play.
Young People
For young people we offer talking therapy
as well as the use of creative materials and therapeutic resources to enable them to express themselves, find better ways of coping with difficult feelings and emotions whilst encouraging them to be curious about their overall mental health and wellbeing.
Parents/ Carers
We meet with parents/carers to talk abut what worries them about their children. We offer either one-off or more regular consultations to support them with any parenting issues affecting their relationship with their child.
